Individual departments have their own deadlines for each semester or term of entry. Please refer to the list of programs for the specific deadlines.
To be admitted to a graduate program, students must meet general university and specific departmental minimum standards. For the current departmental requirements, students should contact the department directly. University standards are as follows:
- Complete and submit application before the deadline.
- Agree to live BYU's standards of personal conduct as stated in the Honor Code.
- Earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university or the equivalent from a university outside the United States.
- Receive at least a 3.0 grade-point average in the last 60 credit hours of upper-level course work from an accredited university in the United States, or a comprehensive grade-point average of 3.0 from an equivalent university outside the United States. GPAs from international institutions will be calculated by a credential-evaluation service as noted below.
- All international applicants must take the IELTS or TOEFL exam and satisfy the minimum score requirements for admission. More information
- International applicants must send all marksheets, transcripts, and diplomas for a credential evaluation to one of the following: IERF or WES. Evaluations should include a course-by-course evaluation and grade point average (GPA). Applicants should request an electronic copy be sent to BYU Graduate Studies. NOTE: Applicants applying to Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Electrical & Computer Engineering, should first send transcripts, diplomas, and marksheets to the respective departments for initial review. Please do this before requesting an evaluation from an agency. Upon recommendation for admission, the evaluation fee will be paid by the department.

All applicants should apply online. The online application can be edited or updated at any time before final submission. Applicants should send supporting documents, such as transcripts and ecclesiastical endorsements, after submitting the online application. If you need to hand deliver an application part, you may use the drop box located in the ASB, open from 7 am - 6 pm, M-F.
