Several graduate students and faculty members from the department of teacher education at Brigham Young University will be presenting research at the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) annual meeting in New York City this month.
The researchers include graduate students Rachel Smith and Lynne Watanabe, former graduate student Kerri Hundley, and professors Roni Jo Draper, Kendra Hall, and Leigh Smith.
The studies being presented examine “action research,” which is a reflective method of learning about one’s own practice with the intentions of improving it.
The AERA is the largest educational research association in the world. The annual meeting attracts approximately 20,000 educational researchers from around the world.
Draper explained that the conference will be an opportunity for the accompanying graduate students to present research, network with other researchers, and learn about the latest developments in the discipline.
“It’s an important conference,” said Draper, graduate coordinator and lead researcher. “It’s always a fabulous time when you’re going to New York in the spring.”
