BYUGSS Council

Council Representatives

BYUGSS Council

From the New Graduate Student Info Fair and Graduate Intramurals to the Winter Workshop and Research Presentation Awards, the BYUGSS has BYU grad students covered. If you want to be involved, we'd love to have you be a part of the action during your graduate experience at BYU.

Getting involved with the BYUGSS is a great way to get to know graduate students in other departments as well as your own. There are a number of ways to make your voice heard:

  1. E-mail us your ideas, suggestions, and praise.
  2. Talk with your Department Representative
  3. Become a Department Representative! If you are excited about the council rep description below then Email us and we will get in touch.

Become a Council Representative

The Council is home to representatives from many of the 53 graduate programs on campus. In addition to the many things for which the Graduate Student Council members are responsible, their main job is to represent and advocate for the interests of students in their department.

The average Council Rep volunteers one to two hours a week by:

  1. Helping to organize and run BYUGSS sponsored events and activities.
  2. Participating in bi-weekly Council Meetings.
  3. Serving on sub-committees within the Council.
  4. Enjoying all the perks of being a full fledged member of the Council (lots of free food, all expense paid trips to the WSC, a few retreats, and even a cool t-shirt).

All grad students are welcome to stop by our council meetings, check out the Meeting Schedule and come hungry for refreshments.

Council Retreats

The Council retreats are an opportunity for the council members to come together in an informal setting, get to know each other, and have fun! Families and friends are always invited and there is an abundance of activities for both the young and old.
