Freshman Mentoring Program
What is the Freshman Mentoring Program?
The Freshman Mentoring program is a key part of a university-wide initiative to strengthen undergraduate education at BYU. It gives all first-year students
easier access to certain high-demand University Core classes and provides every freshman with strong support from a peer mentor.
Please visit the
Freshman Mentoring website for more information.
How Does Freshman Mentoring Work With On-Campus Housing?
Students who live on campus will be able to select course bundles that are specific to their chosen housing area. When students live within close proximity of those who are in their
same classes, they have more opportunities to develop friendships, discuss concepts, participate in study groups, and be mutually supportive of each other. All housing areas have the
same choices of course bundles, so there is no difference in that regard.
During summer term, course bundles are available to all students regardless of their housing arrangements. The size of the program, unifying presence of the peer mentor, and close associations
between students in their classes, will enhance the students' opportunities for a successful experience in the summer Freshman Mentoring program.
For more information on the Room Selection Process, please veiw the
On-Campus Living Room Selection brochure.
Switching Housing Areas
Not living in the same housing area as others in your bundled, mentored classes limits your opportunities for making connections through meals, wards, housing area activities, etc. Because
of this, a student who changes housing areas may be asked to change their bundle registration.
