Residents may check in on the following dates:

  • Winter 2012: January 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

When you arrive at the residence halls, please park your car, check in at the appropriate check-in station, and then unload everything from your car to your room.

During spring and summer terms, please check in at your area central building. Winter semester check-in locations are noted below.

Heritage Check-In Stations
  • Check-ins will take place in the Heritage Halls Central Building.

Helaman Check-In Stations
  • Check-ins will take place at the Helaman Halls Cannon Center front desk.

Wyview Check-In Stations
  • Check-ins will take place in the Wyview Multi-Purpose Building.

Early arrival may be available for Winter 2012 at a rate of $15.00 per night. Please contact your area central building to inquire about availability.

What To Bring Top top
We recommend you bring the following items, because they will not be provided by the residence halls:

Iron (Ironing boards are provided)

Heritage and Wyview residents are provided with an ironing board, refrigerator and freezer, oven/stove, microwave, kitchen table with 4-6 chairs, large couch or love seat, desk and chair, garbage can, shelf space, drawer space, personal closet, and access to a vacuum cleaner.

Helaman Halls residents are provided with and ironing board (in the basement, bathroom, or laundry area), desk and chair, shelf space, drawer space, mini refrigerator, and personal closet.

FLSR residents are provided with community dishes, cookware, and utensils.

*You are welcome to bring personal entertainment equipment, but please be considerate of others. Speakers should be no larger than 1' x 1' x 2'. If you prefer loud music, please bring earphones.

The residence halls have very limited bicycle storage outside. If you bring a bike, you might consider one that is less expensive to avoid risk. You will need to provide your own lock to secure your bike. Bikes must be licensed; for more information, see Parking Information. Helaman Halls has limited indoor bike storage. Contact the Cannon Center at 801-422-2034 for more information.


What NOT To Bring Top top
  • State and community laws prohibit fireworks and other explosive/flammable materials in the residence halls.
  • Small appliances and space heaters are not allowed in the bedrooms, with the exception of the personal refrigerators provided by the university.
  • Incense, candles, or any other type of open flame are not allowed in the residence halls.
  • Weapons--including firearms, BB guns, paint or pellet guns, wrist rockets, airsoft guns, large knives, and ammunition--must be checked in at your area central building.
  • Skateboards, longboards, and in-line skates are not allowed on campus because of an increase in accidents and damage to university facilities.
  • Pets (including fish) are not allowed in the residence halls.

Using the term "BYU" may delay your mail.

Mail is delivered once daily. It is picked up twice each day at Helaman Halls, and once daily at Heritage Halls and Wyview Park. If you live at Helaman Halls, Heritage Halls, or the Foreign Language Student Residence, packages that do not fit in your mailbox may be picked up at the area front desk. At Wyview Park, they are delivered to the package mailbox. Housing cannot be responsible for lost or damaged mail.

You can buy stamps at the Cannon Center, Wyview Park Office, or Heritage Halls Central Building.
