Sun Safety

April 2008

As things are heating up for Spring, more of us are heading outdoors and into
the sun. Here are some tips for healthy sun exposure from www.skincancer.org.
Take these precautions when heading out to activities such as hiking, running,
biking, or even just shopping.

  • Choose a sunscreen that blocks both UVB and UVA rays.
  • Apply liberally (one ounce with each application) to all areas - even lips, neck, and ears.
  • Apply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
  • Cover up: wear a hat and UV blocking sunglasses.
  • Remember: there is no safe way to get a tan. Do not seek afer burning or tanning in the sun or artificially.
