The STAR (Strategic Technology and Resources) Project originally started in 1999 with an upgrade to PeopleSoft 7.5 HRMS from PER/PAY, a internally designed system. An upgrade was necessary because the database system and application language used by PER/PAY was scheduled to lose vendor support in 2000. The upgrade to PeopleSoft 7.5 was successfully completed in 2001. The STAR Team is currently working on the upgrade to PeopleSoft 8.8 HRMS, which is scheduled for completion in April 2005.
