Employment Services/Student Employment Office is a division of BYU Human Resource Services. The Student Employment Office staff assists students and departments with their employment needs. Prospective students can review job openings from their own computer both before and after arriving on campus. Students looking for work are encouraged to contact the Student Employment Office (2024 WSC) as soon as they arrive on campus. Job openings are posted at the Student Employment Office as well as on the Internet at: www.byu.edu/hr/se.

Students applying for work on campus, as well as students who already hold campus jobs, are required to observe the Church Educational System Honor Code, Dress and Grooming Standards, and the Nepotism Policy. The Dress and Grooming Standards apply while at work as well as in the classroom. Student employees should also dress appropriately for the environment in which they work and may be required to adhere to a dress standard for the individual department in which they work. This standard may include uniforms or specified safety equipment.

To assist students in their own development, employing departments should review with students the performance standards expected of them and assist those who are not performing up to the expected standards. The BYU Employee Relations Office can offer assistance to departments when performance problems persist (See Grievance/Administrative Review Policy).

All University hiring and setting of wage rates are centralized through Employment Services. This assists in maintaining fairness in recruiting, meeting state and federal employment laws, and properly interpreting campus policies.
