You entered into a legally binding housing agreement with Brigham Young University for the entire school year (fall and winter semesters). During the petitioning process, you will need to think about and explain how your commitment has changed and why you now feel you should be released from your obligations.

Fill Out Petition Go to www.byu.edu/oncampushousing Log in to My Housing Account Click on the Petition for Agreement Release link under the "Single Housing" tab Fill out the form by selecting agreement period, reason, and requested release date and provide additional comments specific to your situation Click on Continue
Discuss Your Petition You may be contacted by Campus Accommodations or area management to gather further information regarding your specific situation
What Happens Next? Your petition will be forwarded to the Housing Review Board for review You will be notified of the decision through your message board in My Housing Account (usually within two weeks) Do not do anything (such as sign a new contract, check out, or attempt to sell your contract) until you receive the Board's decision
If Released By Committee Contact your hall advisor to check out You will be expected to complete all assigned cleaning and to check out properly	If NOT Released By Committee You may schedule an appointment with the area manager to discuss an appeal
	Finding a Replacement For Your Contract If you are not released from your agreement, you may be given the option of finding someone to take over your agreement You must first receive permission from Campus Accommodations (2-2611) You cannot be replaced by someone who has submitted a housing agreement for the same time period
