Moving-In Information
Check-Ins
Residents may check in on the following dates:
- Spring 2013: April 27, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
- Summer 2013: June 21, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
- Fall 2013: August 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
When you arrive at the residence halls, please park your car, check in at the appropriate check-in station, and then unload everything from your car to your room.
Heritage Check-In Stations
- Please refer to your scheduled check-in time and location in My Housing Account.
Helaman Check-In Stations
- Check-ins will take place in the lobby of your assigned hall unless you check-in after Thurdsay August 29th, in which case you will check-in at the Cannon Center.
Wyview Check-In Stations
- Check-ins will take place in the Wyview Multi-Purpose Building.
Early Arrival
Early arrival may be available for Fall 2013 at a rate of $15.00 per night* as early as Saturday, August 24th at 5:00pm. Early arrival charges will be posted to students' accounts in early or mid September.
If you are a Helaman Halls or Wyview Park resident, to schedule early arrival log into your My Housing Account, go under the Single Housing tab, click Housing Agreement, click Fall/Winter, above the picture of your Floor Plan click "Set/Change Early Arrival," and set and save the appropriate early arrival date.
If you are a Heritage Halls resident and would like to schedule early arrival, schedule a check-in time before August 28th. You may schedule a check-in time by logging into your My Housing Account and following the red link on the right side of the page that says "Please Choose Time."
*This rate does not apply to Late Summer Honors or Foundations of Leadership participants unless they check-in earlier than the start date of their program.
What to Bring
We recommend you bring the following items, because they will not be provided by the residence halls:

Heritage and Wyview residents are provided with an ironing board, refrigerator and freezer, oven/stove, microwave, kitchen table with 4-6 chairs, large couch or love seat, desk and chair, garbage can, shelf space, drawer space, personal closet, and access to a vacuum cleaner.
Helaman Halls residents are provided with an ironing board (in the basement, bathroom, or laundry area), desk and chair, shelf space, drawer space, mini refrigerator, and personal closet.
FLSR residents are provided with community dishes, cookware, and utensils.
*You are welcome to bring personal entertainment equipment, but please be considerate of others. Speakers should be no larger than 1' x 1' x 2'. If you prefer loud music, please bring earphones.
The residence halls have very limited bicycle storage outside. If you bring a bike, you might consider one that is less expensive to avoid risk. You will need to provide your own lock to secure your bike. Bikes must be licensed; for more information, see Parking Information. Helaman Halls has limited indoor bike storage. Contact the Cannon Center at 801-422-2034 for more information.
What NOT to Bring
- State and community laws prohibit fireworks and other explosive/flammable materials in the residence halls. If you are caught in possession of these items, you will be reported to the University Police.
- Small appliances and space heaters are not allowed in the bedrooms, with the exception of the personal refrigerators provided by the university.
- Incense, candles, or any other type of open flame are not allowed in the residence halls.
- Guns and other weapons, such as large knives, bows and arrows, swords (including decorative weapons), and paint guns are not allowed on campus. Any firearms, pellet guns, BB and paint guns, wrist rockets, slingshots, and other similar items, as well as ammunition, cannot be stored in the apartment. Violators will be referred to the University Police and Honor Code Office (http://honorcode.byu.edu/), and their rental agreement will be jeopardized.
- Skateboards, longboards, and in-line skates are not allowed on campus because of an increase in accidents and damage to university facilities.
- Pets (including fish) are not allowed in the residence halls.
Bed and Sheet Sizes
All residents of On-Campus Housing (Helaman Halls, Heritage Halls, Wyview Park, and the Foreign Language Student Residence) must provide their own linens. Sheet sizes are provided below.
Helaman Halls
All beds in Helaman Halls are extra-long twin, except in David John Hall where they are standard twin.
Heritage Halls
All beds in Heritage Halls are standard twin, except Buildings 9 and 25-30 where they are extra-long twin.
Wyview Park
All beds in Wyview Park are extra-long twin.
FLSR
All beds in the Foreign Language Student Residence are standard twin.
