September 10

We are saddened to hear of the shooting that took place at Utah Valley University, resulting in the death of Charlie Kirk. Our prayers go out to his family and to our friends and colleagues at UVU.

As affirmed earlier today by our sponsoring church, we condemn violence and lawless behavior, and we pray that we may treat one another with greater kindness, compassion, and goodness.

BYU Security is closely monitoring the situation. At this time, the BYU campus remains open, with an increased police presence on campus. BYU students who need crisis counseling resources can drop in at BYU’s Counseling and Psychological Services (1500 Wilkinson Student Center).
